Warped Tour 2000 July 22/00 @ Molson Park in Barrie

alright, this here is my lil warped tour tale.....it's a lil long, cuz it's my whole day at warped, plus reviews of all the bands I saw.....so, you can be nice n read it all, or skim for something that interests you...whatever :)

well, what can I say about this year's warped tour? It was fucking awesome! :)

I went with two of my best friends, Julie n her boyfriend Kevin n we got in at 1:05 after standing in line for forever amongst the 30,000 or whatever ppl....missed the Deviates for the second year in a row =/ oh well...then we went directly to the merch area n looked around for a bit till we came to where they'd posted set times. It was about 1:25 n we noticed suicide machines were coming on at 1:30 so we hurried over to stage 2 :) they completely rocked :)

after that, we had to make the huge decision between watching SUM41 or Mugshot. We'd all already seen SUM41 (Julie n I twice, Kevin once), so, we decided to watch Mugshot (Kevin n Julie had never seen them before, n I'd seen them once). So we booted it over to the Ernie Ball stage to catch Mugshot. They were sooooo awesome! With their new drummer in tow, they put on an awesome show. It was so good to see Mugshot perform again :) They played Hallowaiian Ska, Cadillac Sue & I Believe in Steven Even off their self-titled debut album :) they played a few other songs, I guess appearing on an upcoming album? and they did an awesome cover of the beach boys kokomo hehehe :) With Tahiti Tom bustin' his moves, the set was awesome :)

after that, we headed back over to the merch tables with the set times...figgered out everything we wanted to watch for the day. Bif Naked was the next act we wanted to catch, n as she wasn't coming on till 5 (it was now 2:30) we browsed all the merch tables n saw all the Vans Warped Tour had to offer :) We also took that time to grab a drink, a pee break, n some lazing around in the shade hehe :) However, we got bored of that after a while n headed back over to the action. We made our way over to the well hidden Edge 102 tent n found out Green Day was coming out for an interview n just minutes! YAY what perfect timing eh? hehe well, it would have been. It still rocked, cuz they came out, signed a bunch of autographs (I finally moved up to the second row of ppl when they stopped signing to do the interview but thought, "well after the interview they'll sign more of course!") well, I was wrong =/ They left right after the interview n there was me, Julie, n Kevin shafted standing sooooooo close, yet so far =/ but I mean, we were so close, they were about 2 feet away from us, so that was kool nonetheless hehe :) But I blame the whole us-not-getting-autographs on the stupid chick right in front of us. She was the most annoying person I've ever come into contact with in my life. All three of us wanted to punch her out, n that's so not like us heh. Anyways, I bet they thought she was annoying too n didn't wanna come over to our section anymore. stupid chick cheating us outta green day autographs *sighs* oh well. As much as it sucked for the moment (n still sux in retrospect heh) it didn't ruin my day whatsoever.

As soon as green day left the edge 102 tent, I heard Bif's awesome voice over the mic n we hurried on over to stage 2 to catch her performance :) She played *tries to remember*...... only the girl, daddy's getting married, everything, chotee, spaceman, moment of weakness, n over you :) She is totally beautiful n so sweet n put on one hell of a performance :)

Let's see here...after that it was 5:30 n we took a pee break n decided to come back n get a spot for green day....yeah fat chance of that happening! The place was packed! heh anyways, we caught the last 15 minutes of good riddance (n actually, from the port-o-potties, which by the way had no toilet paper left at this point heh, we heard the first 15 minutes of good riddance's set) they put on a good set, I liked it :) n they played think of me which is my favourite song by them, so that kicked some serious ass :)

So, we're in the middle/back of this huge crowd that's gathered for Green Day (whatever happened to that huge "I hate green day" backlash? I thought I was the only green day fan left hehehe.) anyways...out they came! YAY! n what did they rip into? but my favourite green day song, welcome to paradise oooooh yeah! :) here's where I laffed thru the whole song...n now I'll tell you why. Ppl were in the pit, who didn't wanna be there.....n other ppl were in the back, who wanted to be in the pit. So, what happened, is this surge of ppl shoving like mad to get out, n other ppl shoving like crazy to get in....n all the ppl who just wanted to stay where they were, got shoved around in the giant sea of ppl swaying n crashing back n forth. It was a little tough to stay linked to Julie n Kevin hehe...but I just couldn't stop laffing thru the whole thing cuz it was just too funny. The only problem I had with it, is that this one stupid chick wanted in the pit, n she stuck up her elbows n just plowed her way thru ppl. I mean have some respect. I wanted to bash her over the head...n yet I'm so not violent heh. oh well whatever. Green Day put on an awesome show (could you expect anything less from these guys?) filled with tonnes of audience interaction, jokes about masturbation, n tre setting his drum kit on fire. Billie Joe even showed off a little to the delight of the crowd by doing a guitar solo behind his back :) let's see here, what'd they play? longview, brain stew, jaded, knowledge ..the operation ivy cover.... basketcase, geek stink breath which they dedicated to the kool kanadians they met, gob :) Christie Road which was a request from the audience, hitchin' a ride in the middle of which they stopped playing to make sure a kid in the audience who seemed hurt was ok :) During knowledge they invited a guy up on stage n got him to play guitar with them...talk about memories for life man! that rewls :) their set was awesome n it was soo good to see them again :) they didn't play anything new (they have an album coming out October 3, called warning) but that's exactly the way they wanted it. They were great :)

Green Day went a little over n ended about 6:40 (definitely no complaints about that!) but then we booted it over to stage 3 to catch a band I've wanted to see for a loooong time, anti-flag. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Their set was awesome, I loved every second of it! oh wait, I know, I was a teeny bit disappointed they didn't play anything off the split cd with d.b.s....however, that split is pretty old, so I couldn't very well expect them to play anything off it. Also, their new album hasn't been out all that long, I'm sure they're using the warped tour to promote it, so it's alright with me :) their set was very passion filled n it was truly amazing, I am sooo glad I got to see them :) They had a really good sized audience too, even with MxPx playing on stage 1 at the same time :) So I was really happy to see that, their set was reaaaally good :)

after that...Subb, a ska/punk band from Montreal, was playing the Union/Stomp stage right beside stage 3, so we hung around n watched them. They had a really little audience watching them (I think millencolin was on at the same time) n only me n one other girl seemed to know their stuff hehe, but that was kool...made me feel all special n stuff :) Most of what they played was off their new album until the party ends n they played a couple songs from older albums aswell. Their second last song was fast redemption n OMG it rocked so hard..they played it amazingly n I was a very happy farfie hehe :) they started with Tzedakah n went right into L.A. Beach Bum right after it :) The crowd grew to about 20 by the end of the set heh (I know that sounds terrible...but it was awesome for us, we were right up front hehehe) :) anyways, they totally played an amazing set n I was so happy I had a chance to catch them :)

finally, the closers for the Toronto 2000 warped tour date....gob! they completely rocked so hard! they opened the show with the song that first got me hooked on em, n a lot of other ppl too I'm sure...yep, you guessed it, soda! :) that got the pit in a frenzy in an instant with body surfers flying n shoes coming at ya n ppl falling on ya n bottles sailing thru the air n all that good stuff hehe :) we had a pretty good spot right at the beginning, but as soon as they started playing, we got pushed pretty far back heh. after that it seemed we'd wound up in grand central station....we were right by the camera stand n it seemed that everyone coming and going, was passing by us right there! it was so damn annoying heh oh well, it was gob n they took away all my worries hehehe :) they played you're too cool, fuck them, leave me alone, asshole TV, B-flat, what to do, beauville, self-appointed leader, on these days..... n they played a new song that'll be on their upcoming cd coming out this october...I think it's called been too long or perhaps gone too long I'll have to confir on that with my buddies hehe :) oh yeah, anyone who watched gob won't forget tom showing off his neat moves hehehe :) well...it was amazing to see gob close the show, they put on an amazing performance n I was a very happy farfie hehe :)

so, there's my day at warped, I had an awesome day n I'll remember it always :) hope everyone who went had as awesome a time as I did :)
