Godspeed You Black Emperor
October 5/00 @ Bloor Cinema

This was the night of my sisters' graduation. I went to the ceremony which was fantastic. Mike and I got to the show at 10pm worrying that we missed the show since there was a crowd of people outside. As we walked up, we realized it was just the intermission. As we walked in, the smell of popcorn hit our noses. I couldn't help but get something at the concession stand. Then we went to the balcony. The balcony was packed and we had to sit on the stairs. Then the concert began.

On a small screen started short films that were only a few seconds long. One that taped manequins, one with a dog jumping.

They played for 2 hours. The music was so moving, there were tears streaming down my face. Godspeed...is an instrumental band that cannot be missed.

As I walked out, may of Toronto's music community was there. Much from the alternative/punk scene. I saw the great artist Hayden. Many new songs were played. The band did not say anything to the audience which furthers the enigma of the band. The band played fantastically.
