Moneen - with every time I die, kid gorgeous, no warning, apathemy, jerk circus, & face down May 12 @ Oakville Arena/The Pine Room

Hardcore fans and cartwheeling tough guys
This day will be known for the next couple of weeks as the day with the c-r-a-z-y thunderstorm.

Moneen

This band from Brampton was the only non-tough guy one. The stamina this band has is simply uncanny. If you like the bands from my top ten you're sure to like Moneen. A fantastic emo band...all those who don't like emo...:P They are now on smallman records (another label with a really cute symbol). Chris and Kenny (the guitarists/vocalists) are amazing in the fact that they can jump in all directions and still hit every note. While I was watching every time I die and kid gorgeous, I looked over to the table that was selling the moneen stuff. I caught a glimpse of the singer of moneen (chris) doing his best tough guy pose...that was classic. The drummer Peter was really cool (I talked to him for a bit). The bassist Mark was excellent as well and he seemed to be the juxtoposition to Chris and Kenny's intensity...he seemed to be the leveler of the band. You have to get their four song cd smaller chairs for the early 1900s ...it's fantastic. However, unfortunately it doesn't have their closing song on it.

No Warning

A Toronto hardcore band. Unfortunately, the sound wasn't the greatest. I just remember a feedback sound that sounded like one of those plastic spinny toys (that make that woooooo sound).

Every Time I Die/Kid Gorgeous

These two Buffalo bands were crazy. I will forever remember the guitarist from every time I die doing carwheels and flips into the crowd. Pretty crazy! I was just thinking give this guy a guitar so he doesn't kill us all. These two bands played their sets together, switching every couple of songs. It was one of the wierdest things I had ever seen but it was an interesting idea. Still I think these bands were a little too tough for me. I'm just a weakling.

Apathemy

Singers who don't wear shoes...or socks! Well this hardcore band from Detroit were also very ferocious. I'm a big sucky baby...I can't take the toughness.
