Tristan Psionic - with Crooked Fingers, Sinclaire, & The Meligrove Band May 6 @ Lee's Palace

Sinclaire

We'll start off with these guys cuz they're such a good band. Sonic Unyon has another impressive band on their label. Their CD is now on the Sonic Unyon label, self-titled. On one side it says "Mama's Boys" and they thank their moms in the liner notes. Who doesn't love a guy who loves his mom? The song hello was played superbly. There were some technical problems, but the guys didn't sweat it. Those guys are fantastic. They're playing NXNE..so get your wristbands soon and you won't be disappointed. They also played a lot of new stuff, which tends to be a little bit harder. However, all and all it's good Canadian indie music.

Tristan Psionic

There was some crazy guitar and sounds that came from Hamilton's Tristan Psionic, now with a new bassist from the amazing band Change of Heart. Their new album is called Mind the Gap and it is also released on Sonic Unyon....as is their previous stuff. Again, staples of the Canadian indie music scene they are a band not to be missed. The only thing that annoyed a lot of people about their set, was when they held this one note for about 2 mintues and everyone had to cover their ears..heh that sucked. However, if you love feedback and crunchy guitars, you are sure to love them.

The Meligrove Band

Their set was awesome, as can only be expected of the Meligrove Band. They were on first, a tough spot to play in, but the Meligrove Band handled it just fine. They played their hearts out to a rather empty Lee's, but that didn't stop them from putting smiles on the faces of the people who were there. Their music is of a type that breeds happiness, it's hard to come away from a Meligrove show, not feeling good :) They played an excellent set, and played both of Lisa's favourite songs, sooner or later and oh, but she did! wonderfully. Needless to say, she took away high regards for the Meligrove foursome from Mississauga. We'll definitely be back to see them again. Vicki had the cd already, and Lisa bought it right after they finished their set. Stars and Guitars is an album that should be in every music lovers collection.

Crooked Fingers

Old man...crooning old man. That's all we can think of when we think of his set. It seems that all of the reviews of his album have been positive. I guess we still have a lot to learn about appreciating music...we'll leave it at that.
